Impact Report: Southwest’s Rapping Flight Attendant
The real category is getting a new edition now that Southwest’s rapping flight attendant has stirred enough attention to spark some key emotion within us to share.
Tracking one of the many uploads of this video shows an example of how this video has grown substantially in the online community reaching over 600 k (views).
This isn’t the only copy that’s making waves though. According to the Viral Video Chart the copy available on Break.com is closing in closely on the 1 million mark (914 k). The clip is showing lag as the blogging community starts to consider it old news and stops posting their short quips. However, the fall out for this video will bring it over one million in time.
The genius of this video, from a business sense, comes at the end. After a very original looking display of talent showers the passengers of flight 372 the flight attendant conveniently says; “thank you very much…you will not get that on United Airlines I guarantee”. Ding! Ding! Ding! Promotion! Let’s hope they pay their talent a fair quote.
As a beautiful piece of new media that combines common skills with daily life the video clearly makes its impact and will have future passengers expecting a talent show as part of their business class purchase.
Also, clever tactics by the user to link this particular video as a video response to T.I.’s (Feat. Justin Timberlake) new song “Dead and Gone”, which as we know will generate traffic based on the fact that they are both big names and it’s music on the web.
Good on you Southwest!
Cheers!
