She has become a mega star in the last year and if you thought Susan Boyle was huge check out Gaga’s social network.  Her Twitter and Facebook are both in the millions in terms of followers and fans.  There is no point in listing the current number on either of these networks because that figure’s growth is so large any attempt would be quickly become outdated with her next release.

What I will do, to give some perspective on Gaga’s online fame, is show you how she has elbowed her way to the top.

In a recent article I outlined how the landscape of the YouTube’s all time most viewed content has shifted with the introduction of Vevo.   Vevo has taken some key top players off the top of the YouTube chart and left room Gaga to climb to the top with her incredibly successful song Bad Romance.  In a few days time she will surpass Charlie bit my finger as she has closed the gap to be within 1 million views of the famed Brit.

Why is relevant?

Charlie bit my finger has been online for years whereas Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance has only been available for months. Kid clips individually just can not compete with the viral nature of music.

Note: the tactic of including “Vevo” in Lady Gaga’s channel name and allowing the label’s music to be played through the Vevo advertising system while still including it on the YouTube all time chart means the song is double listed unlike any other top performing song.  Avril’s “Girlfriend” does have the tag but is not listed on the YouTube all time most viewed chart.

YouTube’s All Times most viewed video chart is being taken over by music.  When we first reported on the top 100 70% of videos on the Top 100 all time chart were music videos.  Currently, the music videos on the chart today account for 72% of all videos.  The growth of 2% occured because music is extremely viral.  Artist like Lady Gaga and Beyonce released songs (Just Dance, Single Ladies) and within months their making an appearance on the top 100.  Universal Music Group has 14 songs on this list!!!!

Looking closer at the Top Ten, 6 are music videos and interestingly positions 11 to 15 are all music video just waiting to squeeze those last 4 out.

Her daily view count on the most active YouTube video reached almost 7 million on April 17th.  Connie currently has 43 million views and Paul Potts has about 45.  Susan Boyle’s video was uploaded on April 11th, 2009 and in 8 days has jumped to over 30 million views (April 19th).  

This one YouTube video only makes up some of sensation.  The Viral Video Chart is reporting Susan Boyle’s success at 64 miilion views.  Take into account there are 63 duplicate videos.

In the wake of Susan Boyles explosion Paul Pott’s video (nessun dorma) is back on the charts as well.  This video truly shot through the Internet at lightening speed and is rasing the tide for another classic.  It’s no longer a question of “have you seen?” but “you haven’t heard?” of the Susan Boyle.  She has appeared on numerous shows including Larry King and still a week after the virus took hold there are 6 videos about her on the front page of YouTube’s daily popular chart all of which are over 100k.  

This is a truly amazing story of talent.
