Top Ten All Time YouTube Music Videos – Does Embedding Make a Difference?
If you have a good music video going should you disable embedding? Have a look at the current leading songs and which ones disabled embedding. Also notice the Miley Cyrus clip, it shows an increase in views around the 1 million mark every week for over 6 weeks now. This is a feat no other video on the chart is accomplishing. Notice the video 7 Things has not disabled embedding…
Arguably there is another video on this chart that hasn’t disabled embedding (Timbaland) and it is not growing at an unusually high rate. The Jonas Brother’s on the other hand has embedding enabled and for last the last three 2 week check ups it has grown almost a million every time. The Jonas Brothers released there song SOS two month before Apologize came out so the time difference doesn’t seem valid here either.
Timbaland and The Jonas Brothers represent competing points and Miley acts as a tie breaker having been released a year after The Jonas Brothers, 7 Things is climbing faster than any other video on the chart.
Avril Lavigne – Girlfriend
Chris Brown – With You
Rihanna – Don’t Stop the Music
Leona Lewis – Bleeding Love
Alicia Keys – No One
Chris Brown – Kiss Kiss
Akon – Don’t Matter
Looking off the first page of the chart.
Here are some recently added videos and their progress as they try to get to these coveted 10 spots.
Beyonce has 52 million and Single Ladies has embedding disabled. This video came on the scene in November of 2008 so it has made ground very quickly averaging roughly 866k a month.
Universal takes a different approach with the video Jizz in my Pants by the The Lonely Island. It dances annotations and ITunes buttons on the page to direct consumers to a purchase point. The Lonely Island tunes were available as of February 2009 and Jizz in my Pants has already topped 40 million. Guess what…It doesn’t disable embedding either.
